The programs, age by age
These come from the club's site, grouped the way the club groups them. Your kid starts in the one that fits their age.
Summer Recreation Soccer
entering Kindergarten or 1st grade Fall 2026; entering 2nd or 3rd grade Fall 2026; entering 4th or 5th grade Fall 2026; entering grades 6, 7 or 8 Fall 2026; entering grades 9,10,11,12 Fall 2026 or graduating spring 2026
The Summer Recreational Season is a 7 or 8-week schedule running in the evening from mid June to the beginning of August, with 1-2 sessions a week depending on age. Recreational soccer is for both beginners and developing players.
Fall Recreation
ALL players entering K - 6th grade
A six-session fall training program focused on individual player development. Sessions include fundamentals followed by a soccer game and are run by the SCSU Women's Soccer Team.
Winter Recreational Training
ALL current Kindergarten-5th Grade soccer players
A five-session winter program in which players work on soccer fundamentals and play 3v3 or 4v4. No official teams are assigned; players are divided by age and skill for each session.
Summer Competitive Soccer
9U/10U; 11U/12U; 13U to 19U; 13U to 16U; 17U to 19U
CMYSA's primary competitive soccer season, with training beginning in January and league play generally running from May through late mid-July. The program offers Division 1, Division 2, and Division 3 levels.
Fall Competitive Soccer
U10; U12; U13
A seven-week competitive fall season with training twice per week and tournaments including the Shakopee Fall Cup and Jailbreak Classic. All teams compete at the Division 3 level and are formed based on registration numbers.
Division 3
Division 3 is for players taking the next step from Recreational Soccer or seeking more than recreational soccer without playing year-round. Some Division 3 players may continue to develop and move up to Division 2 or Division 1.

Division 2
Division 2 is for players working toward Division 1 or highly skilled athletes who do not want soccer year-round. Coaches focus on individual development and team tactical training.
Division 1
Division 1 is the highest level of soccer currently offered at CMYSA, with the most intense training in advanced individual skills and team tactics. Division 1 teams train 2-3 times a week.
Pre-Evaluation Camp
Players born in 2012 to 2018
Players have the opportunity to attend a camp that takes them through the activities used at Competitive Evaluations. The goal is to help players become more comfortable and prepared for evaluations.
CMYSA Player Pathway
10U-14U
The Player Pathway motivates and accelerates player development through at-home practice, age-appropriate soccer skills, speed, stamina, agility, and recognition for character and growth.

I coached for CMYSA Recreational and Travel Teams for 12 years and then as an assistant with the Apollo High School Boys Soccer Team for 4 years. I have officiated now for 5 years within the USSF youth and adult competitive leagues, playoffs and State Tournament, MSHSL Varsity, Section Playoffs and State Tournament. I have also done some NCAA D3 reserve team games.
