National Letter of Intent

The old binding signing document. The NCAA abolished it in 2024.

The National Letter of Intent was the binding agreement a recruit signed with a college from 1964 until the NCAA Division I Council eliminated the program on October 9, 2024. Recruits now sign the school’s written offer of athletics aid instead, which does the same two jobs: it commits both sides, and it stops other Division I and II schools from recruiting the player.
