The OBGC boys academy teams participate in the NCSL and EDP leagues. These teams are coached by Darren Beesley, Gavin Dodd, Luke Cassidy and Pete Wood.

Instructional & Developmental Program2 programs

Instructional Academy

Pre-K and K

The Instructional Academy is a co-ed, instruction-based program. Teams practice and play scrimmage games on Saturday mornings throughout the spring.

Developmental Program

1st and 2nd grade levels

The Developmental Program runs in the spring and the fall and gives players exposure to fully licensed, qualified, experienced coaches on Tuesday night practices and Saturday game days.

Goalkeeper Training Clinics

OBGC holds goalkeeper training to develop ball-handling, positioning, reflexes, footwork, distribution and other goalkeeper skills.

Camps4 programs

Spring Break Soccer Camp

OBGC coaches provide age-appropriate training that develops soccer and life skills while emphasizing fun and a challenging soccer environment.

Summer Soccer Camps

Ages 4-6; Ages 7-18

Mini Kickers uses creative soccer games and activities for children ages 4-6. Day Camp provides age-appropriate soccer and life-skills training for ages 7-18.

High School Prep Camp

High School Prep Camp helps players prepare for high school tryouts and improve fitness.

Advanced Camp

U9-U18

Advanced Camp is designed as a pre-season camp leading into the Fall league plan for academy players U9-U18.

Darren has coached in Olney for over 17 years working with various age groups along with the Academy. He has helped to develop numerous players that have gone on to play collegiate and at a professional level. Darren played professional soccer in England, Scotland and Ireland for Rotherham United, Kilmarnock, and Drogheda FC.

Luke Cassidy

Luke began his coaching career back in 2016 after interning as a soccer player at University of Santa Barbara, CA. He also formerly coached in Chicago, IL at club level and has now been with OBGC since the Fall 2023. University of California Santa Barbara. Luke played semi-professional soccer in England whilst he completed his 3-year University Bachelor’s Degree in Football Coaching, Development & Administration.

Liam has coached with OBGC since Fall 2022. Liam played for OBGC his entire youth soccer career from the age of 6-18. Liam won 3 State cups, 1 Region1 Championship, USYSA National league and went to Nationals. Liam played at McDaniel University and Duquesne University.

Alan oversees the U8 Developmental Academy at OBGC for our youngest players (3 - 8 years old). Alan has worked with many top level travel teams within OBGC over the past 15 years. Alan is a former professional soccer player for Sheffield Wednesday from 1994 - 1998.

Gavin joined the OBGC coaching staff in 2009. He currently head the 2007, 2014 and 2015 boys teams as well as the Maryland State ODP U14 boys. Gavin is a former college soccer player.
