01What is it

Overview

EDP Soccer is a league operator rather than a single league, and it is part of 3STEP Soccer. It runs more than a dozen separate competitions under its own name, among them the EDP League, EDP Futures, EDP North Atlantic, the EDP Connecticut championship and futures leagues, the EDP Florida Competitive League and an EDP collegiate summer league, plus a heavy tournament calendar that includes the EDP Cup.

Because those competitions are separate and each is split into flights, the level of "EDP" varies enormously from one division to the next. When a club says a team plays EDP, the useful follow-up is which EDP competition and which flight, because that is what tells you the level.

EDP is also one of the operators US Club Soccer named for the new National 1 League, running its Northeast and Mid-Atlantic play from 2026-27, so an EDP club may be entering a team a rung above its usual EDP flights.

Strengths
  • Flights at nearly every level, so a team can be placed near its own standard
  • One of the named operators of the National 1 League from 2026-27
Trade-offs
  • A dozen separate competitions under one name, so "EDP" alone tells you little about level
  • Its team placement is set by a competition committee rather than by promotion and relegation

College commitments

3,805 college commitments from 115 New York and New Jersey member clubs, taken from public commitment lists. Those two states are the only ones these counts cover.

These counts cover this league’s New York and New Jersey member clubs only. “Unverified” means the school matched but the program level did not. No league publishes college placement by youth league, so read this as one slice of two states rather than a scoreboard. We never print a current youth player’s name.

What this league asks before your kid can register: the ages it runs, whether they can still play the high school season, and who sanctions it. The college-exposure and cost lines are our read of the league, not a figure the league publishes.

Pathway from here

Where players go

State premier flights and the big regional operators sit here. The usual next step is a regional league one rung up, decided at a tryout rather than by results. This is also the rung we can say least about, because these leagues publish far less about their own structure than the national ones do.
