This Is Football
13+Best for tweens & teensIMDb 7.9
This six-part Amazon series tells stand-alone stories about what the game means around the world, from rebuilding Rwanda after the 1994 genocide to the rise of women's football and a chapter on Lionel Messi. Each episode centers on one emotion or idea rather than one league or team. Some of the subject matter, especially the Rwanda episode, is heavy.
Why we picked it
It pushes past scores and trophies to show soccer as something that can carry grief and hope for whole communities. The women's-football episode and the global range make it a strong watch for a young player learning the game is bigger than their own team.
